Construction by New England Development began in the fall of 2004 and was completed in 2010. The project includes 1.1 million square feet of office, retail, and high-rise residential, including a new Bloomingdale's, Whole Foods grocery store, parks, and community center. |Friendship Commons (Geico site)
The Montgomery County Planning Board has approved a preliminary plan for redevelopment at the Geico site, which would include 300 multi-family housing units, 200 single-family housing units, and 810,000 square feet of office space. There is no activity at the site currently.

The Courtyard by Marriott Chevy Chase opened in 2009. The hotel has 226 guest rooms featuring a 32" flat panel LCD HD tv, free wi-fi, alarm clock with iPod docking station, and a mini refrigerator.
